About BuildCalcWorld
BuildCalcWorld is a free suite of construction material calculators built to help builders, contractors, architects and DIY enthusiasts estimate materials quickly and accurately β before they buy or build.
Our mission
Estimating construction materials by hand is slow and error-prone, and a small mistake can mean wasted money or a stalled job. Our mission is to make professional-grade material estimation free and accessible to everyone, in their own language and units. Every calculator is designed to give a clear, itemized result you can take straight to the hardware store.
What we offer
We build calculators for the most common construction tasks: tiles and porcelain (floors and walls), drywall and gypsum board, steel framing (metalcom studs, tracks, ceilings and trusses), roofing sheets (calamina), paint coverage, concrete volume and thermal insulation. Beyond calculators, we publish step-by-step guides, material comparisons, free SketchUp plugins and downloadable 3D models for furniture and construction design.
How our calculators work
Each calculator uses established construction formulas and standard coverage rates (for example, adhesive per square meter, screws per panel, or overlap for roofing sheets) combined with the dimensions you enter. We include adjustable waste factors so you can plan for cuts and offcuts. Many tools also offer 2D and 3D visualizations so you can see the layout, not just the numbers. We document the methodology and reference tables on each page so you understand exactly how the result was reached.
Built for a global audience
BuildCalcWorld is available in English, Spanish, German, Japanese and Korean, with regional terminology and units (metric and imperial) so the tools feel native wherever you are. We pay attention to local product names β drywall, volcanita, pladur, tablaroca, Rigips, Gipskarton β so you find the calculator you actually need.
Our commitment to accuracy
We continually refine our formulas, reference data and translations based on user feedback and standard industry practice. That said, our results are estimates for planning. We always recommend confirming quantities with a qualified professional and your supplier before purchasing. You can read more in our Terms of Service.
